Hi,

Hello,
I have read many passages that request a need for art lessons, ideas, and
resources for teaching in the art room. I started teaching elementary art in
1972, and ‘sort of’ retired in 2008. During the last eight years when I taught
my elementary art students I used a yearlong format. The first year was
experimental and student’s response was encouraging, so for the following
school years, I developed and taught yearlong art programs using a
broad-based theme.
It was magical! The theme, PowerPoint presentations, units, art projects,
assessment and classroom subject integration, all components developed
into a cohesive, proficient teaching instrument. When you use this curriculum
approach, there is no last minute question or guessing of what art lesson
to teach because you’re organized and prepared. When presenting this
art curriculum to a principal, it will be viewed as a professional teaching
strategy that is based upon research on how the brain learns.
I wish to share this rewarding teaching know-how with others. Jeanette

About the APPArt teacher become a curriculum builder and share your art program ideas and opinions with other art teachers using this app! Curr Bldr includes step-by-steps directions to develop a thematic yearlong art curriculum. Also included for you to teach is a two-year model thematic art program, "See An Artist Be An Artist" with twenty-six art lesson ideas plus art projects. This teaching unit is designed to introduce students to artists, Elements and Principles of Art and enhance student art language and art-making skills. Every art lesson includes an original rhyme addressing each element/principle of art for students to memorize. A year-long theme benefits student learning and enhances long-term memory, because the students can understand and recognize the connections offered in the art program.
